Windsurfing: The Manor at Felixsrtowe Wind Direction: S Wind Stength: 15/20 Surf / Sea State: A bit lumpy Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny and hot Max Speed: 19.15 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 22.50 mile (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Monday 29th June - walks **** – Felixstowe seafront and The Ferry –
sunny periods and very hot!
Walk 1 early prom walk.
I joined Mag on her early morning prom walk leaving home at 6.15 reaching
the seafront just in time to see a container ship enter the Orwell. The
metal detectorists were out in force this morning, we spotted three, we
later learned that a lady had lost three rings on the beach on Sunday and
amazingly they were found today:) We headed down towards The Fludyers in
lovely sunshine with a light breeze and then back through the Spa gardens
to sort my pics out before getting up to do a big shop at Lidl and then put
some eggs on for sandwiches and we had our breakfast in the garden before I
did my exercises, starting off outside but finishing them indoors as it was
pretty hot again! Mag then harvested a couple of pot of potatoes and got
loads of small ones, enough for two meals, one of which we enjoyed this
evening!
Walk 2 Felixstowe Ferry for picnic by the Deben.
With no wind forecast for today I packed the picnic and we set off in the
van to Felixstowe Ferry to walk back along the Deben hoping to see some
boats come and go. I was surprised to see white water everywhere with a
southerly blowing in excess of 15 knots but it was high tide so not great
for sailing so we parked behind The Ferry Martello and walked to the Deben
entrance where it was fairly bumpy in the channel and we were entertained
by a few boats going through the rough water, I stupidly had my camera set
on too slow a shutter speed so my pics came out blurred, I just did not
notice:( Then a US plane did a couple of low runs along the coast, I
don’t know if it was going to drop some parachutists out? The egg
sandwiches were yummy and it was pleasant sitting out in the sunshine but
it was starting to cloud over from the SW, I returning home I put my
windsurfing gear back in the van, I had already taken it out this morning
to go shopping and headed down to Squiz Lane at The Manor to check out the
conditions?
Monday 2th June – Windsurf **** The Manor at Felixstowe – sunny periods
and hot.
Foil – 19.15 knot max, 17.31 knot ave., 13.18 knot hour, 15.11 knot mile,
36.66 km., 12.29 knot alpha.
Starboard Freeride 150 and a Tushingham Bolt 5.75.
The wind was not supposed to blow today but it picked up at one and built
to around 20 knots at times, after a short walk and picnic at Felixstowe
Ferry I loaded the van and headed down to Squiz Lane to check out the
conditions arriving just after three. With the tide dropping but still wind
with tide and gusting to around 20 knots I quickly set-up rigging my
favourite 5.75 which once again proved good, a fraction under at times but
once up and flying it was perfect! With the wind in the south I could do
long runs diagonally down the coast having to beat both way to stay in the
same position, coming in was particularly good sailing straight into the
lovely low sun with the sea sparkling, a real surprise bonus session, June
has been good and I have now sailed 13 times:)
